Without SLD Read, I don’t believe that my son’s dream of passing the pilot test could have ever been a realization for him. ~ Tammy, Parent

SLD Read has given my son, Pete, a hand up from a place that no one or no place else was able. Pete has struggled with dyslexia all his life, only to be frustrated, embarrassed and belittled. Teachers, and myself have tried to help Pete over the years without the diagnostic or understanding of how his dyslexia held him back and how much he struggled. SLD Read has shown Pete ways to help him read and turn around his dyslexia, which in turn has helped him in school and with his quest of being a pilot.

I remember the first day that we went to SLD Read for an evaluation. We were in the car on the way home and he said, “Mom, Amy gets it!” I asked what he was talking about, and he explained to me that no one else had ever been able to “get” how he learns and what he had struggled with for so long.

Without SLD Read, I don’t believe that my son’s dream of passing the pilot test could have ever been a realization for him, however, I am proud to say, Pete will be soloing for his pilot’s license this summer. As a mother, it’s nice to know after all these years that there is a place like SLD Read that cares and really helps the students that they service. Thank you!

I wanted to let you know that since completing tutoring with you, Noah has been reading as never before.
~ Sherri, Parent

First, I wanted to let you know that since completing tutoring with you, Noah has been reading as never before. He has started to shy away from audio books, at least for now, and has been reading on his own–both for his English class and for pleasure. Last night he asked to stay up late reading his book for pleasure, and when I said “no”, he asked if he could get up extra early this morning to read. Thank you so much for giving him this confidence in his own reading ability!

Thank you for the book about mispronounced words you sent Noah (which he has also been picking up off and on). Thanks, too, for the many words of encouragement you gave him over the months you worked with him. They are appreciated so much!

We had a wonderful conference with Ethan’s teacher this week. She praised his writing and said in twenty years she has never had a student that writes like him, she is so impressed with his vocabulary. ~ Parent

We had a wonderful conference with Ethan’s teacher this week. She praised his writing and said in twenty years she has never had a student that writes like him, she is so impressed with his vocabulary. He is writing a story and every week he shares his new chapters with the class. She said he has provided an opportunity for wonderful discussions with his classmates. And they love to listen to his story. He has A’s in all subjects. Thought you would be happy to hear that!

This semester I’m taking my English, Math, Political Science, and Communication class and am doing very well in all. ~ Jenna

My first year of college has been going well but very fast! I’ve been extremely busy with school, studying, and working. School is going great though. You should be proud I got an A on my first paper for my English 101 class. This semester I’m talking my English, Math, Political Science, and Communication class and am doing very well in all. I’m very excited how school is going and I have also gotten tutors in the beginning of the semester so when the harder material comes I will be fully prepared for it. Thanks so much for the help you’ve done for me the past 2 years it’s been really appreciated and helpful with my studies.
