DESCRIPTION:Are you a parent\, caregiver\, tutor\, or a person who has dyslexia? This virtual workshop presented by the Michigan Disability Rights Coalition will teach you all about assistive technologies to help you and others who experience dyslexia. \nMichigan Disability Rights Coalition (MDRC) is a non-profit organization devoted to justice and equity for individuals with disabilities\, promoting collaboration\, and dismantling obstacles. MDRC focuses on all disabilities (apparent and non-apparent) but places particular emphasis on valuing and including the desires and voices of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. For almost four decades\, MDRC has partnered with individuals\, families\, and organizations to foster disability pride and eliminate oppression. \nKellie Blackwell MA\, CRC is the Michigan Assistive Technology Program Co-Director and will be presenting on assistive technologies. \nWhat is Assistive Technology (AT)? AT is any tool\, software\, or app that can help people with disabilities\, including older adults\, do what they want to do. \nThis event is free on August 8th from 7-8pm via Zoom. DESCRIPTION:!CANCELLED!  \nIt is with a heavy heart that we announce that the Rally for Literacy has been cancelled. Due to a high volume of pickleball tournaments in June\, we are unable to move forward with the event. We appreciate all of those who registered\, and we hope to see you at our future events! Have a wonderful summer! \nJoin us for an exciting day of community\, celebration and PICKLEBALL!  Whether you are a seasoned pickler or a newcomer\, Rally for Literacy promises fun and a chance to celebrate 50 years of SLD Read!  Greg Cowles\, Head Pickleball Professional at West Hills Athletic Club\, will run the tournament (King/Queen of the Court style) and his team will offer support for new players.  Everyone is welcome! \nRally for Literacy will be held at Ramona Park on June 8\, 2024; play will begin at 1:00 pm.  Bring the kids or grandkids to enjoy the Kids’ Zone\, featuring face-painting\, games and more!  Each registered participant will receive lunch\, refreshments and an event t-shirt. \nImportant information for players: You do NOT need a partner to play in Rally for Literacy; the tournament director will pair players with like players. If there is a player that you would rather play with\, you are more than welcome to do so for the first round of play.
