Picture This! Comprehension Strategies – Big Rapids Area

This course provides direct instruction in comprehension skills, understanding the theory behind the process of transferring thought (pictures) to words and techniques used for teaching comprehension through imagery and vocalizing.

$275 per person. No fee for SLD Read tutors.

Course content includes:

• language comprehension and the brain
• Dual Coding Theory
• developing imagery skills
• oral expression development
• vocabulary comprehension
• the connections between oral and written expression
• supporting students for making inferences, finding the main idea, paraphrasing and making predictions
• opportunities for practice

This course is open to reading specialists, Title I, RtI, paraprofessionals, general and special education teachers.
