Allison's Story

Allison was diagnosed with dyslexia around the age of ten. Like so many families navigating this new reality, her parents searched tirelessly for ways to help her succeed. Allison and her family tried many different programs, resources, and tutoring options. Each offered something, but none made a lasting difference. That changed when they discovered SLD Read.

Once Allison began working with her SLD Read tutor, everything shifted. Through patient, personalized instruction, she not only improved her reading and comprehension skills—she also began to understand how to work with her dyslexia, embracing her unique strengths rather than letting it limit her.

The impact was remarkable.

“Allison not only learned valuable skills to improve her reading and comprehension,” her parent wrote in a letter to SLD Read, “but also the confidence to navigate academic life successfully.”

That confidence carried her through her academic journey, and today, 15 years later, Allison is graduating from nursing school—a dream she’s worked so hard and tirelessly to achieve.

“We truly believe that SLD Read played a key role in helping her get there. Your program gave her the tools to manage her learning differences and allowed her to flourish,” her parent shared.
